Fabric Care Guidelines

How to care for your fabric:

  • Like all treasures kept well, our fabrics won’t age – too much!
  • We recommend cold hand wash or cold gentle machine wash, separately to other clothes, for all our fabrics. Then dry by hanging or lying flat.
  • Linen is generally a very durable fabric, but for longevity we recommend treating it with care and love. Over time, the colours can fade due to wear.
  • Pressing or ironing on a high heat is recommended to reduce line and crinkles in your outfit.
  • You can expect a small amount of shrinkage, as linen is a natural fibre.

Like any natural fabrics, linen tends to shrink a little for the first few washes. Normally garment makers wash linen prior to cutting fabric to reduce further shrinkage. Linen from de Linum only shrinks by 2-3% if at all.

The Fabric Broker is an Australian boutique, offering thoughtfully designed fashion fabrics to elevate your look. Our approach is to offer unique fabric designs underpinning your desire for personalised options for your next statement wear piece.

Meet the woman behind the label

The Fabric Broker (TFB) was founded in 2022 by Tiernan, a busy mum of two. Tiernan was born into a family of seamstresses and sewers, and her ability to piece together textures and tones was a skill her Granny taught her from a young age.

Now, Tiernan finds herself utilising dressmakers and creators to showcase her fabric finds.

Tiernan’s desire to be surrounded by chic designs paved the way for her to create The Fabric Broker and in doing so, offer a haven for fabric lovers and creators alike to find something unique, something bold, and to also contribute to the world of slow fashion.
